Marbella

Marbella is a city in the south of Spain and the part of luxurious Costa del Sol region. It is picturesquely located on the Mediterranean Sea and is one the famous tourist destinations not only in Europe but in the whole world. 

Its touristic infrastructure, warm climate and genuine beauty are what attract numerous visitors from all over the world. Marbella’s beaches are represented by 27 km of coastline. They vary greatly in texture, sand and amount of people. One of the most popular beaches is Artola located in the protected area of the Dunas de Artola.  Among other top 10 beaches in Spain are San Pedro Alcantara and Puerto Banus. They got the blue flag of the Foundation for Environmental Education. Besides that Marbella also has nudist beaches such as Cabopino

Besides its incredible beauty the city has a significant archaeological heritage. To learn more about it visit the city’s museums. The range of cultural events is pretty wide; there are opera performances, reggae concerts, and so on. There are a lot of festivals held here. Marbella also hosts Marbella International Film Festival and a WTA tennis tournament

The city has gained a reputation of a luxurious resort thanks to private yachts, boats, cruise ships, golf fields, luxury hotels and private estates. Legendary British Rock Musician Rick Parfitt from Status Quo lives here, Antonia Banderas has a house in Marbella, even his daughter was born here. 

Fashionable boutiques located along the coast are the favorite places for shopaholics from different countries. Here you may also try all kinds of watersports even the SUP – stand up paddle surfing. It is claimed to be a variant of surfing, but you have to stand on the board to use a paddle to move forward. This way of sport came from Polynesia. If you are a beginner and you are not sure you will be able to do it yourself you can always hire an instructor who will help you.

After all the activities you will probably want to try traditional Spanish cuisine. Marbella’s traditional cuisine is mainly based on seafood. Among the most typical dishes are Gazpacho, fried fish and garlic soup. Wine donuts, churros, torrijas and oil cakes are also popular here. There are of course many restaurants serving international cuisines so you will always have a choice.
